Alshon Jeffery made Dawn Staley feel at home in Philadelphia.
On Thursday, the former South Carolina wide receiver presented the Gamecocks women’s basketball coach with a No. 5 Philadelphia Eagles jersey. Jeffery, who played for the Gamecocks from 2009-11, is a new member of the Eagles after signing with the franchise this offseason. He spent the first five seasons of his professional career with the Chicago Bears.
Staley is from Philadelphia, so this act that united two things that represent Staley so much — South Carolina and the City of Brotherly Love — is awesome.
Blessed to be in the city to honor a true legend and my dear friend the GOAT ??Coach Dawn Staley. Congrats and thanks for all you do! Love ? pic.twitter.com/vikauiImuW

This has been quite the week for Staley. On Sunday, she led the Gamecocks to their first national title after beating Mississippi State in an all-SEC affair. Then on Wednesday, she and South Carolina men’s basketball coach Frank Martin were celebrated at a Darius Rucker concert in Columbia, S.C.
What an awesome gesture by Jeffery. It was a no-brainer for him to make Staley feel at home, given that he’s one of the most prominent former South Carolina players in the NFL. But the jersey presentation was an extra special touch.
With that jersey, home will never be too far from Staley.
