If there is one thing that needs to be in top shape for a Division I football game, it’s the field.
That’s certainly not the case at South Carolina inside Williams-Brice Stadium, where this piece of grass just screams, “trip on me and cost one team the game.”

Just think, Tennessee’s Josh Dobbs or South Carolina’s Jake Bentley is trying to throw an end zone fade in the fourth quarter to take the lead. The wide receiver is looking back toward the ball and trips over that raised slice of field. All of a sudden, a team loses because of it.
It just seems like someone put the new piece of grass down and never bothered to mow over it and blend it in with the rest of the playing surface. The odd part is that the grass is clearly greener on the new piece, but the original portion that’s painted seems like it has seen less foot traffic.
The piece of field looks out of place, too. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
