COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina football team returned to the practice field on Friday morning, for a non-padded workout.
On Saturday, the Gamecocks will head over to Williams-Brice Stadium for their first of two preseason camp scrimmages.

Reporters will meet with coach Will Muschamp on Saturday evening, upon completion of the scrimmage, which is closed to the public.
Muschamp will probably be asked about redshirt sophomore defensive end Shameik Blackshear, who’s missed time with a concussion, according to defensive line coach Lance Thompson.
Muschamp is planning to play a lot of first-year players on the defensive side of the ball in 2017, so a report on those nine guys is certain to be shared.
Freshmen wide receivers OrTre Smith, Shi Smith and Chad Terrell have turned heads during the first few weeks during camp and Saturday will be another opportunity for them to shine.
