The SEC Nation crew is broadcasting live from Columbia, S.C., where the South Carolina football program faces a number of question marks as the season nears an end.
First and foremost, who will be coaching the Gamecocks next season?
Paul Finebaum opened up the discussion by suggesting that interim coach Shawn Elliott will not be South Carolina’s next coach barring “a miracle” next week against top-ranked Clemson.
Both Tim Tebow and Marcus Spears had similar opinions and offered their takes on South Carolina’s coaching search.
“South Carolina needs to hire a coach with juice,” Spears said. “Shawn Elliott did it. They’ve been playing different. He brought a level of enthusiasm that went to these players and you see it on the field. It’s been a different football team when Shawn Elliott took over as head coach. I don’t know if he’s going to be the guy going forward, but they need a guy who’s going to put football at the forefront. Athletically, (football) is going to be our calling card, the staple, and do what we need to do to have success in football, and that translates to all other sports.”
“It’s a great job, an underrated job,” Tebow added. “They need to get someone with juice to come in here and get some recruits. With this stadium, this fan base and this recruiting pool around this area, (South Carolina) can be dynamic and compete for an SEC East title very fast.”
