Lorenzo Nunez’s fight for South Carolina’s starting quarterback job suffered a blow on Saturday when he injured his knee during practice. While the sophomore will have to miss some time this spring, the injury—officially diagnosed as a hyperextended knee—is not a major concern, according to coach Will Muschamp.
“It’s nothing serious regardless of what you guys got,” Muschamp told reporters, via The State. “I hope to get him back in a week or so.”
A four-star prospect out of Kennesaw, Ga., Nunez appeared in eight games last year, completing 32-of-52 passes for 376 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. He’s currently splitting time at QB with Perry Orth, Connor Mitch, Michael Scarnecchia and freshman Brandon McIlwain.
