North Carolina transfer Ty’Son Williams has made it no secret he would like to transfer to South Carolina. Now he has taken an important step toward enrolling in Columbia.
Williams has filled out the application forms to attend South Carolina, Phil Kornblut of The Columbia State reports. His hope is to enroll at South Carolina once he is accepted.
“I wanted to transfer closer to home and I feel like this will be the best fit,” Williams said. “North Carolina is a great school and a great program, but I want to be closer to family.”
Williams considered South Carolina while in high school, but was unable to secure a scholarship after the class filled up with running backs. He ended up at North Carolina where he played sparingly his freshman year.
It appears Williams will approach the football team once he is on campus. He is not applying to get a scholarship from South Carolina immediately, but applying directly through the school as a normal transfer.
