OrTre Smith was back at South Carolina on Sunday and he’s scheduled to return this weekend.
According to Phil Kornblut of sportstalksc.com, Smith was among the high school players on campus at South Carolina for the High School Sports Report media day. The rising senior from Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, S.C. met with coach Will Muschamp and wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon while he was in Columbia.
“They were just checking on him and seeing how he was doing,” said Smith’s mother, Tashia Green. “It was general stuff about how he was doing and how they were doing with him.”
Smith is scheduled to visit South Carolina again Saturday for the Gamecocks recruiting cookout. He’ll also be in Clemson on Friday for the Tigers’ All In Cookout.
North Carolina will host him later in the month. A trip to Florida could be in the works for August. Georgia had him on campus this past weekend.
“He just wants to go through it one more time,” Green said. “Everybody is even right now.”
Earlier this summer, Smith listed a top five of South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Clemson and North Carolina. The 4-star athlete recently told DawgNation that he believes South Carolina is recruiting him the hardest.
“South Carolina is my home,” Smith said. “They are showing me a lot of love as my home in-state school and I appreciate that. I like Coach McClendon a lot. I know everyone up there. That school is all good with how they are recruiting me right now.”
