He has arrived.
Four-star prospect, and the nation’s No. 3 dual-threat quarterback, Brandon McIlwain touched down in Columbia, S.C., on Friday and is preparing for the spring semester at South Carolina.
The quarterback is using his extra time in South Carolina to focus on spring practices, as he hopes to compete for playing time as a true freshman.
McIlwain will presumably begin the season on the bottom of the Gamecocks’ depth chart behind incumbents Connor Mitch, Lorenzo Nunez and Perry Orth, but co-offensive coordinator Kurt Roper has said there is a possibility that a freshman could see the field.
Just got in to Columbia??

McIlwain joins new teammates and fellow offensive players Bryan Edwards and C.J. Freeman as early enrollees.
Edwards, a four-star wide receiver moved in last week before the spring semester got underway on Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 208-pound prospect out of Conway (S.C.) High School was one of the big commitments under first-year coach Will Muschamp. With a strong spring, Edwards could work his way into the mix to replace junior Pharoh Cooper, who’s already declared for the 2016 NFL Draft.
Officially done moving in.

Freeman also checked in at South Carolina over the weekend.
The three-star prospect from Northern Guilford High School (Greensboro, N.C.) will also have a chance to earn playing time with running back Brandon Wilds set to graduate.
Rising redshirt junior David Williams and fellow freshman Rico Dowdle will also be in the mix for time in the Gamecocks’ backfield.
Lmao my first week in SC and I'm loving it already?

One member of South Carolina’s 2016 class that will not be an early enrollee as anticipated is junior college cornerback Jamarcus King.
King, who signed his letter of intent on Dec. 16, 2015, will not enroll at the university until June after he takes care of an academic matter.
