It appears former South Carolina baseball coach Chad Holbrook is in the running again for the College of Charleston job.
As reported by Andrew Miller and David Caraviello of The Post and Courier on Wednesday, Holbrook has emerged as a candidate again despite “an avalanche of support”‘ for former Cougars pitching coach Scott Foxhall. The past day has been wild for Holbrook, who guided the Gamecocks to a 35-25 finish in 2017 before resigning.
Holbrook reportedly accepted an offer to become College of Charleston’s coach, only to have University President Glenn McConnell veto the hire because of former players’ support for Foxhall, per The Post and Courier.
It will be interesting to see what comes of this situation. The Post and Courier reports that Holbrook thought about pulling himself out of consideration for the job. However, he reportedly had “a change of heart” and still wants to be considered.
