South Carolina wide receiver commitment OrTre Smith will miss the rest of his senior season.
On Tuesday night, Jimmy Noonan, Smith’s coach at Wando High School in Mount Pleasant, S.C., told The Post and Courier’s David Shelton that the 4-star injured his ankle late last month.
“It’s a tough loss for us and a tough way for OrTre to end his season,” Noonan said. “We hate it for him but he will get it fixed and get himself ready to go in January.”
Smith will enroll at South Carolina in January along with 3-star offensive tackle Summie Carlay and 3-star junior college linebacker Eldridge Thompson. Three-star offensive tackle Dennis Daley, who’s also at a junior college, hopes to have his academics in order so he can join them.
The injury will keep Smith from suiting up in the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
