South Carolina will no longer have Tyren Jones in its 2016 recruiting class, multiple sources told The Big Spur.
Jones, a three-star running back, is currently dealing with academic issues, per the report.
He committed to South Carolina on Jan. 24, soon after making an official visit to the Gamecocks.
South Carolina currently holds commitments from two other running back prospects, including CJ Freeman, who was one of six players to enroll early at the university. Rico Dowdle, a three-star North Carolina prospect who is expected to sign with the Gamecocks on National Signing Day, rounds out the running backs..
Jones was dismissed from Alabama after his redshirt freshman season. He spent the 2015 season at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.
Jones also holds an offer from Louisville.
The 5-foot-9, 212-pound prospect is rated as the nation’s No. 4 junior college running back.
