South Carolina will begin spring ball in two weeks with one less receiver on the depth chart.
Rising sophomore receiver D.J. Neal plans to transfer, according to 247Sports.com’s John Whittle. Neal, a former three-star recruit, caught eight passes for 104 yards in mainly a backup role during his freshman campaign. Neal played in nine games and did make three starts for the Gamecocks.
Neal joins Shaq Davidson as the second wide receiver to transfer from South Carolina this offseason. Davidson, a redshirt sophomore, left the program in early February. South Carolina will also face the challenge of replacing star wideout Pharoh Cooper, who declared for the NFL draft after his junior season.
