Shawn Elliott was a sparkplug for South Carolina in 2015, and he should fill that same role again next year.
New South Carolina coach Will Muschamp is expected to retain Elliott on his new staff, according to GridironNow.com.
Elliott will serve as the offensive line coach, which is the same role he served in under Steve Spurrier before he was promoted to South Carolina’s interim coach in early October. He will also be the only member of the current staff retained by Muschamp, according to the report.
Elliott went 1-5 as coach, beating Vanderbilt in his debut before dropping the final five games of the season.
During Muschamp’s introductory press conference Monday morning, the new Gamecocks coach said no decisions about the staff have been made, despite all of the reports circulating. Muschamp also added there is no timetable for assembling a coaching staff.
