Four-star defensive end Savion Jackson tweeted on Wednesday night that he will announce a commitment in seven days. South Carolina is one of the five finalists.
Jackson, who took an official visit to see the Gamecocks last weekend, listed Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State and Virginia Tech as the other four finalists. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive end from Clayton (N.C.) High School is ranked as the No. 45 overall prospect in the Class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite.

“They just finalized some stuff in my brain I was thinking about,” Jackson said, after the visit. “They answered all my questions. I took away a lot from this visit. It puts them in a strong place with me, a more solid place.
“This visit really set them apart from some other schools and really made them stand out.”
The 2019 South Carolina recruiting class has several defensive line commitments, including 5-star end Zacch Pickens (Anderson, S.C.) and 4-star end Joseph Anderson (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) All three prospects — Anderson, Jackson and Pickens — were on campus last weekend.
According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, the Gamecocks are the favorites for Jackson, who’s the No. 2-ranked prospect from the state of North Carolina.
