COLUMBIA, S.C. — Despite its third straight win Saturday, South Carolina moved down in this week’s SEC Country Power Poll.
The Gamecocks slid from No. 11 to No. 12, as they were jumped by Mississippi State on the heels of the Bulldogs’ upset of Texas A&M.
South Carolina held the bottom spot three weeks ago, but has won three games in a row since then to move to 4-4 heading into November. USC was voted as high as No. 8 this week with a low of No. 14.
The SEC Country Power Poll consists of 26 voters, including ones from SEC Country and around the nation.
South Carolina beat Missouri on Saturday, building on its upset win against Tennessee a week earlier. Freshman quarterback Jake Bentley recorded a career-high 254 passing yards to go along with running back Rico Dowdle’s career-high 149 rushing yards and wide receiver Deebo Samuel’s career-high 125 receiving yards.
South Carolina heads into its final SEC game on Saturday against Florida in Gainesville, Fla. It marks Will Muschamp’s return to his former school and the first road game for South Carolina since an Sept. 24 trip to Kentucky.
South Carolina hosts Missouri on Saturday before a trip to Gainesville, Fla., to play the Gators to wrap up its conference slate.
Florida is No. 6 in this week’s poll.
Alabama received all 25 first-place votes to hold the top spot, as it has all season. Texas A&M dropped from its No. 2 ranking following its loss to Mississippi State. Auburn rose to No. 2, setting up a potentially huge Iron Bowl against Alabama.
