South Carolina interim coach Shawn Elliott spoke the truth on Saturday night when he admitted that his team “is hurting.” A few players went down with injury during the Gamecocks’ 27-24 loss to Tennessee at Neyland Stadium, and Elliott updated their statuses during his weekly Sunday teleconference with the media.
Elliott said receiver D.J. Neal, who was reportedly taken to the hospital after hurting his hip during the game, will be undergoing more tests, according to David Cloninger of The State. However, the expectation is that Neal will be “OK.” Elliott also told reporters that defensive back Al Harris Jr. has sustained a dislocated shoulder and is doubtful to play against Florida.
The Gators and Gamecocks will kick off at noon on Saturday, with ESPN televising the SEC East clash.
