South Carolina star Sindarius Thornwell is dealing with an illness two days before the Gamecocks’ first-ever Final Four appearance.
Thornwell did not practice and did not make it to the team’s 2017 Final Four media availability at University of Phoenix Stadium on Thursday. He remained at the team hotel because he was sick, the school told SEC Country’s Mike Wilson.
Thornwell is the team’s leading scorer at 21.6 points per game and the SEC Player of the Year. He scored 24 points or more in all four of South Carolina’s NCAA Tournament wins.
The Gamecocks play Gonzaga in the Final Four at 6:09 p.m. ET on Saturday.
