South Carolina AD continues to refute that Rich Rodriguez was offered job
Whether South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner did in fact offer Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez the position as the Gamecocks coach remains very much up in the air.
On Saturday, Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne tweeted that Rodriguez turned down Tanner’s offer to coach at South Carolina.
Asked about that exchange on Monday during Will Muschamp’s introductory press conference, Tanner denied that Rodriguez was extended an offer.
Ray Tanner says the tweet from Arizona's AD that Rich Rodriguez got an offer from South Carolina is "inaccurate."

FoxSports.com’s Bruce Feldman also reported that Rodriguez was offered the job, and added that after considering the position on his flight back to Arizona, he opted to reject the offer and continue making progress with the Wildcats.
Both Muschamp and Rodriguez were reportedly interviewed by Tanner last week, along with a host of other candidates including interim coach Shawn Elliott, Cal coach Sonny Dykes, former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley and South Florida coach Willie Taggart.
