COLUMBIA, S.C. – Wednesday night brought with it the first episode of a new series produced by South Carolina to give fans an inside look at the football program under Will Muschamp.
And Thursday brought with it feedback about “Gamecock Confidential: Forever to Thee” from Muschamp, as well as athletic director Ray Tanner, as they met with the media during a kickoff luncheon at Williams-Brice Stadium.
Muschamp said he hadn’t had an opportunity to see the premiere, but joked and smiled as he said since it had him in it, it must have been great. On the other hand, Tanner quipped that the first episode probably had too much of him it and that will change moving forward.
“I think it’s great,” Tanner said. “Our staff and the things that they do, they continue to be very impressive and on the cutting edge. It was great. I didn’t really know that I was going to be part of Episode 1 as much as I was, but it will be better going forward.”
The first episode debuted Wednesday night on Facebook LIVE prior to being posted on GamecocksOnline.com. It profiled the hiring of Muschamp and his staff and the spring, while the following four episodes will lead into the season.
For Muschamp, the first-year head coach said he tries to be open with access to give a look at how things are inside the program.
“Sometimes the perception in life is not always reality,” Muschamp said. “We are very open about our coaching and what we do and how we run our program. A lot of people hide behind the scenes with what they do at their program. We don’t. So we open it up and I think that’s important.”
