South Carolina is set to play Marshall on Sept. 15, 2018, according to an announcement by Marshall athletics director Mike Hamrick.
The Thundering Herd will reportedly receive $1.4 million for the game, making it the largest single-game payout in school history.
“We’re excited to play an SEC school, especially one that is in a fertile recruiting ground for our program and within driving distance for our fans,” Hamrick said. “We had an opportunity to play a game of this caliber in 2018 and it was too good to pass up.”
South Carolina and Marshall last played in 1998, which the Thundering Herd won 24-21 at Williams-Brice Stadium.
