South Carolina baseball loses a crucial piece for the rest of the season in sophomore catcher Chris Cullen.
The program announced Tuesday that Cullen would miss the remainder of the 2017 season after undergoing surgery to remove torn cartilage from his left knee. He had been playing through the injury for most of the season and had already missed a number of games because of it.
Cullen played in 34 games this year with 31 starts. He was hitting .276 with 5 home runs and 18 RBIs.
The Gamecocks are 30-21 and 12-15 in the SEC. They currently sit in fourth place in the standings in the SEC East.
