South Carolina basketball already had a stiff battle in facing No. 5 Kentucky on Saturday, but it also has another test.
The Gamecocks have had the flu bug running through the locker room, ESPN reported prior to tip-off of No. 24 South Carolina’s game at Kentucky.
“They had an awful practice yesterday and Frank Martin couldn’t figure out why until he found out four of his guys plus himself were fighting through (the flu),” ESPN’s Kaylee Hartung said.
The Gamecocks also are without sophomore guard PJ Dozier, who is dealing with back spasms. ESPN reported that Dozier began experiencing back spasms on the team’s Friday flight to Lexington.
“They said he would be a game time decision, but they knew when he got the arena tonight that Dozier was not going to be able to go,” Hartung said.
Freshman guard Rakym Felder is starting in Dozier’s place as the Gamecocks (15-3, 5-0) look to stay unbeaten in SEC play.
