South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin has secured a commitment from 4-star prospect A.J. Lawson, the No. 39-ranked prospect in the Class of 2019, according 247Sports.
Lawson, however, has reclassified at GTA Prep (Ontario) and will enroll at South Carolina in time for the 2018-19 season. Creighton and Tulane also were considered by the 6-foot-7, 185-pound combo guard.
The decision was announced on Tuesday night.
With Lawson now on board, South Carolina’s 2018 class is complete. Three-star guards Jermaine Couisnard and T.J. Moss and 3-star forwards Alanzo Frink and Keyshawn Bryant were the only four listed on 247Sports’ class list, but the haul also includes a pair of transfers.
Tre Campbell, who played at Georgetown, is a graduate transfer point guard who will be immediately eligible to play in his first and only season at South Carolina. Guard Jair Bolden, a George Washington transfer, will sit out the 2018-19 campaign before he’s eligible to suit up for the Gamecocks.
