South Carolina didn’t play last week during finals week, but that didn’t stop the Gamecocks from continuing to rise in The Associated Press poll.
The Gamecocks (8-0) checked in at No. 16 this week, moving up from No. 19. It is the highest ranking for South Carolina since the Gamecocks were No. 14 at the end of the 1997-98 season.
The Gamecocks face Seton Hall at 9 p.m. ET Monday (Fox Sports 1) at Madison Square Garden.
South Carolina has been ranked for three consecutive weeks since debuting at No. 20 in Week 4 after it beat Michigan and Syracuse, both of which were ranked at the time.
The Gamecocks are one of seven undefeated teams in the nation.
