South Carolina basketball vs. Gonzaga preview
The Gamecocks got to the Final Four despite being the underdog in all four games, beating Marquette, Duke, Baylor and Florida. They’ll be the underdog again as they take the No. 1 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs.
South Carolina will need another big game from SEC Player of the Year Sindarius Thornwell but that shouldn’t be a problem. The South Carolina senior was named the MVP of the East Regional and has been the most impressive player in the tournament.
But the Gamecocks will have a real challenge on their hands. In addition to having to slow one of the nation’s top point guards in Nigel Williams-Goss, Gonzaga also has 7-foot-1, 300 pound center Przemek Karnowski. And this Gonzaga team has lost just one time all season, though the Bulldogs did play in the weaker West Coast Conference. Gonzaga beat South Dakota State, Northwestern, West Virginia and Xavier to reach the Final Four.
