Five-star small forward Zion Williamson wouldn’t be confined to just one position if he decided to attend South Carolina for his only season of college hoops.
Apparently, Gamecocks coach Frank Martin could see him playing in a few different spots.
“[Martin] said they have plenty of bigs,” Williamson told SEC Country on Friday, “So I’d probably play the 1,2 or 3 throughout the whole season.”
Williamson, the No. 3 overall prospect in the Class of 2018, according to Scout, attends Spartanburg (S.C.) Day School, which is about a 90-minute drive from South Carolina’s campus.
“[Martin] told me there’s only one chance to play in South Carolina for basketball before I go to the NBA because there’s no NBA team in South Carolina,” Williamson said.
Earlier this week, Williamson told reporters that he was planning to take official visits to Arizona, Kansas and UCLA.
Clemson, Duke, Kentucky and North Carolina are among the other potential landing spots for the 6-foot-6, 225-pound prospect, who’s ranked as the No. 1 small forward in the Class of 2018.
“I’m just looking at every opportunity because I only get one chance to pick a school, so I have to make sure it’s the right school,” he said.
