It has been an interesting couple of weeks for Chris Smith, to put it lightly.
But finally, we know where it is leading.
The 3-star cornerback and South Pointe High School (Rock Hill, S.C.) standout will enroll early at South Carolina, just about a week removed from committing to the Gamecocks, his coach announced on Twitter.
Per the tweet, coach Strait Herron received a phone call from South Carolina coach Will Muschamp indicating that South could enroll early and he is expected to be on campus Tuesday.
Last month, Smith was told he would have to wait until February to sign with South Carolina, according to The State’s Matt Connolly.
The 5-foot-10, 168-pounder committed to South Carolina on Dec. 28 for a second time. He de-committed from the Gamecocks six days earlier.
Smith is rated as South Carolina’s No. 23 player and the nation’s No. 135 cornerback.
