On Tuesday, South Carolina baseball commit Brett Williams passed away unexpectedly. He was just 16 years old.
On Friday, Williams’ high school coach tweeted out a picture of two South Carolina jerseys with Williams’ name on them. According to White Knoll High School head coach Charles Assey, the jerseys were donated by Gamecocks baseball coach Chad Holbrook.
This is an awesome gesture by Holbrook and the entire South Carolina program.

“Brett Williams was a special kid,” Holbrook said in a statement earlier this week. “He had all the traits coaches love to have on their teams. He had great character, a tireless work ethic and an incredible personality that we were all drawn to. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his beautiful family and everyone in the Lexington and White Knoll community. #22 will be deeply missed.”
Williams played first base and pitched for White Knoll High School in Lexington, S.C.
