South Carolina announced on Saturday defensive back Al Harris and defensive end David Johnson were dismissed from the program, according to 247Sports.com’s John Whittle.
Both players were defensive starters a year ago. Coach Will Muschamp did not provide a thorough explanation for the decision.
“They are no longer part of the team,” Muschamp said according to Whittle. “We wish them the best.”
Harris made the SEC All-Freshman team in 2014 and had 25 tackles in 11 games for the Gamecocks in 2015. Johnson entered Columbia, S.C., as a linebacker, but was eventually moved to defensive end. He had 20 tackles in 10 games as a redshirt sophomore in 2015.
