South Carolina is 1-4 in the SEC, with its only league win coming in the season opener Sept. 1 at Vanderbilt.
So, you’d think that whenever the Gamecocks are on the plus side of the scoreboard against a conference foe, it would be reason to celebrate.
Not so, according to SEC Country Gamecocks reporter Mike Wilson, who commented on the pulse of Williams-Brice Stadium at halftime, with the Gamecocks leading No. 18 Tennessee 14-7.
South Carolina drawing some boos here for a lack of effort in trying to get down the field to score before half.

With South Carolina having the ball with less than 2 minutes to go in the first half, the Gamecocks called four run plays before time expired.
To be fair, you can see the reasons for anxiety. The Gamecocks were 0 for 5 on third downs in the opening 30 minutes and did little on offense following an opening drive that saw the Gamecocks go 73 yards in 9 plays to take a 7-0 lead.
There will be no boos should the Gamecocks do what it takes to pull off the upset.
