COLUMBIA, S.C. — Junior college transfer Keisean Nixon joined his teammates at South Carolina for Day 3 of preseason camp.
The rest of the Gamecocks were in shoulder pads. It’ll be a couple of days before Nixon, who also must go through an acclimation period, can put them on, too. Nixon, a defensive back, did participate in dummy tackling drills and the individual position work.
Nixon, a junior with three years to play two seasons, was working on the third-team with freshman Jaylin Dickerson during the position period. Coach Will Muschamp, who doubles as the Gamecocks safeties coach, didn’t need to see much before he was blessing out Nixon during one rep.

Freshman Zay Brown and walk-on Javon Charleston were in the second group. At this point during camp, the combination of first-team safeties includes D.J. Smith with Steven Montac or Chris Lammons, who’s also playing the nickelback position.
Bryson Allen-Williams was spotted working with the Bucks during individual position work, which is no surprise since that’s what he did for the entire spring game. He’ll see time at the position this fall, in addition to his work at linebacker.

The linebackers worked on coverage drops while Allen-Williams and the Bucks honed their pass rush moves with Bucks coach Mike Peterson. JUCO transfer Eldridge Thompson, a wide receiver in high school, flashed his sure hands on a rifled throw from linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler.
