COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina football coach Will Muschamp said sophomore running back Rico Dowdle underwent surgery to repair a fractured fibula.
Dowdle, who’s rushed 70 times for 206 yards and a touchdown this season, was the third Gamecock to suffer the injury this season, joining junior wide receiver Deebo Samuel and junior tight end K.C. Crosby.
“I saw [Rico] in the training room [Wednesday] and he’s doing well,” Muschamp said. “Other than that, I think we’re in pretty good shape.”
Offensive linemen Zack Bailey, Cory Helms and Malik Young are expected to return after the bye week, to play against Vanderbilt. Muschamp added that he “certainly” sees that happening.
