South Carolina football: T.J. Brunson lands on ESPN’s All-Bowl team
Sophomore linebacker T.J. Brunson, the No. 2 tackler on the South Carolina football team in 2017, was selected to ESPN’s All-Bowl team.
ESPN senior writer Mark Schlabach rolled out his list on Wednesday morning.
“Brunson had 13 tackles — including nine solos — with two sacks on third down in the Gamecocks’ 26-19 victory over Michigan in the Outback Bowl. The Gamecocks forced five turnovers, the most in Outback Bowl history, and limited the Wolverines to only 13 points on six red zone trips, which enabled them to come back from a 16-point deficit.”
For the season, Brunson finished with 88 tackles (53 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. The sophomore middle linebacker finished second among all Gamecocks in total tackles. He also recovered 3 fumbles.
After the Outback Bowl, senior linebacker Skai Moore, the team’s leading tackler, told reporters that Brunson “needs to keep playing his game.”
“He’s talented, he’s been playing all year, he’s got it all and he has everything you need. He just needs to keep playing his game and he will be perfectly fine.”
