South Carolina fullback Garrison Gist seems aware that a career in the NFL is a longshot, but he’s got something else in mind anyway. His dream is that his passion for art will eventually lead to a job as a Disney animator.
“I don’t have an agent. Most people probably didn’t know about me until (Pro Day) when I did the drills,” Gist told David Cloninger of The State. “I’ve been sending out my resume and applications to museums all over. Hopefully, I’ll land in one of the ones in Charlotte.”
Gist graduated with a degree in art studio and design last May, and has an internship at 701 Whaley, a community center in Columbia, S.C., that hosts art galleries. He’s finishing graduate studies in art history and has showed off his artistic abilities on Periscope.

The former walk-on appeared in just two games during his career with the Gamecocks and hasn’t received any phone calls from NFL scouts. However, Gist isn’t too worried that he didn’t catch eyes at the South Carolina Pro Day in March.
“Pro Day was always the Plan B,” Gist said. “I have the Plan A in getting my degree.”
