South Carolina gains hope with 51-yard FG before half against UGA
South Carolina’s players have their work cut out for them if they want to beat UGA. But, trailing 24-13, the Gamecocks are still in tentative position to mount a comeback in the second half after a 51-yard field goal by Elliot Fry to end the half.
Quarterback duties have bounced between junior Perry Orth and freshman Lornezo Nunez. Orth was solid in the first half, completing six passes for 66 yards. He also gave South Carolina it’s biggest play of the day, a 4-yard touchdown run that capped off a 72-yard drive toward the end of the second half. Nunez ran the ball twice for 19 yards but has yet to throw a pass.
Through one half of play the Bulldogs outgained the Gamecocks, with 323 total yards to South Carolina’s 150. Both teams kept the game clean, as well, with no turnovers between the two.
Carson with the longest kickoff return of his career, 51 yards, followed by a career-long field goal by Elliot Fry 51 yards to end the half.
