Early fireworks on Fourth of July
The 6-foot-2 defensive tackle is rated as the No. 14 overall JUCO prospect in the Class of 2018, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
Behind the pledge
Ellis sat down with reporters after his ceremony to detail why he picked the Gamecocks over North Carolina State …
“Both schools are great programs. I feel like I could have accomplished my goals at both schools — I was comfortable with [both]. At Carolina, I just felt the love there,” Ellis said. “I felt in my heart that’s where I wanted to play.”
#SpursUp from speedy RB
The 6-foot, 188-pound speedster is rated as the No. 13 all-purpose running back in the Class of 2018.
Valentine committed to South Carolina over offers from Louisville, LSU, Notre Dame and Southern California, among others.

With the commitment of Valentine, the Gamecocks received a major boost of what fans call “SEC speed.” Valentine clocked a 40-yard-dash time of 4.34 seconds in June.
“That’s one of those things; you can’t coach that,” Valentine’s coach Stacy Sizemore said of the running back’s speed. “Plus, he’s developed into a really good running back. He’s starting to see things and understand things and when to stick his foot in the ground, to get north and south, when to cut back, when to bounce it outside. He’s starting to understand that part of it.”
JUCO DE Dorian Gerald will reportedly announce his commitment decision on Thursday.
Florida, Louisville, LSU, South Carolina and Tennessee are reportedly the finalists for the talented JUCO prospect, with the Gamecocks and Volunteers believed to be the favorites.

Gamecocks take L.A.
Look who’s arrived in the Hollywood Hills — former Gamecocks Sindarius Thornwell and PJ Dozier.
Thornwell was drafted No. 48 overall by the Milwaukee Bucks, then traded to the Los Angeles Clippers the night of the NBA draft. Dozier went undrafted but signed with the Los Angeles Lakers shortly thereafter.
