On the radar
Though the Gamecocks already have 4-star QB Dakereon Joyner on board, they’re keeping their eyes open for a second signal caller — 3-star QB Cordel Littlejohn is one such prospect.
“He told me to keep in touch and he might want to see me play a little bit of senior [year] ball and also playing 7A ball, moving to Georgia, so that’s what he really told me after the camp,” Littlejohn said of his conversation with South Carolina offensive coordinator Kurt Roper.
‘I love coming there’
Three-star LB Ernest Jones has already taken a major liking to his future position coach, Coleman Hutzler.
For the first time since committing to the Gamecocks in May, the talented linebacker was able to get back to campus to spend more time with the South Carolina coaches, Hutzler in particular.
“It was great. He’s an awesome coach. He showed me some things that I can take home to my team at Ware County and help some of the boys with,” Jones said of the Gamecocks’ linebackers coach/special teams coordinator. “He’s a great coach. He explained stuff to me that I never [heard] before.”
Three-star S Israel Mukuamu unveiled his final 4 schools on Monday night, including Florida State, Indiana, South Carolina and Oklahoma State.
The Monck’s Corner, S.C., native will announce his commitment on July 24.

Still in contact
“Just that they’re still there,” Thomas said. “It’s still early in the process. I don’t go to college until January. I kind of lay off on it, because I’m really solid on my commitment.
Wasting no time
New USC baseball coach Mark Kingston wasted little time on the recruiting trail, tabbing South Florida recruiting coordinator Mike Current to serve in the same role at South Carolina.
According to The Big Spur’s John Whittle, Current’s already been hard at work in his new position.
