South Carolina QB commit climbs in recruiting rankings; WR pledge turns heads at Gamecocks camp

Class of 2019 quarterback and South Carolina Gamecocks commit Ryan Hilinski is climbing in the latest recruiting rankings.
The Orange, Calif., native is now a 4-star QB and the No. 55 prospect overall for 2019 in the latest Rivals100, released on Tuesday.
With his bump on Rivals, the 247Sports composite now lists Hilinski as the No. 71 overall prospect in his class.
Four-star wide receiver and South Carolina commit Traevon Kenion shined in the afternoon session of the Will Muschamp Football Camp on Tuesday.
“The Gamecocks’ 4-star commit from Monroe (N.C.) High School showed off his athleticism, ball skills and speed, which made him virtually unguardable for defensive backs during the competitive period,” SEC Country’s Hale McGranahan wrote.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound athlete is rated as the No. 312 overall prospect for 2019, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s been committed to the Gamecocks since April 29.
Keeping it 100
With Hilinski’s new ranking, South Carolina now has two commits in the 2019 Rivals100.
Five-star defensive end and Gamecocks pledge Zacch Pickens is No. 19 in Rivals’ latest rankings.
Rivals has South Carolina’s current 2019 haul ranked No. 4 in the 2019 team rankings.

In from Memphis
The Gamecocks also welcomed a group from Whitehaven High School (Memphis, Tenn.) to Columbia on Tuesday.
The guest list included 2019 4-star athlete Keveon Mullins, 2020 4-star linebacker Bryson Eason and 2020 3-star linebacker Martavius French.
Mullins is one of the top wide receivers on South Carolina’s recruiting board for 2019. He de-committed from Memphis on May 30.
Class of 2020 wide receiver Ze’Vian Capers was another talented pass catcher on campus this week.
The Denmark High School (Alpharetta, Ga.) standout “got plenty of attention from South Carolina’s coaches,” according to McGranahan.
Capers is the No. 320 overall prospect for 2020, per 247Sports.
Save the date
Four-star defensive end and major Gamecocks target Savion Jackson will announce his college decision at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
The Clayton, N.C., native will reportedly decide between South Carolina, Clemson, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech.
He took an official visit to South Carolina on June 2.
