Ready for their close-ups

Offensive standouts QB Jake Bentley, WR Deebo Samuel and TE Hayden Hurst will accompany head coach Will Muschamp to SEC Football Media Days in Hoover, Ala., from July 10-13.

Samuel and Hurst were available to the media last season (Samuel actually attended media days in 2016), but this is the media’s first chance to cozy up with the Gamecocks’ rising sophomore quarterback. Should be a good time.

In-demand safety sets official visit

Days after naming South Carolina to his top 4, 3-star safety Israel Mukuamu announced his plans to return to Columbia on July 21 or 22.

“Coach Muschamp called me a few weeks ago and told me that they really wanted me and they want me to give them a chance,” Mukuamu said. “And I’ve been talking to him ever since.”

4-star LB talks visits

Major South Carolina target and 4-star LB Dax Hollifield has a good idea of his official visit destinations: Florida State, North Carolina, South Carolina, Stanford and Virginia Tech.

“I might commit at the Army game [Jan. 6 U.S. Army All-American Bowl], I don’t know,” Hollifield said. “But I’ll probably tell the coaching staff that I’m coming and tell my family where I’m going but not let anybody else [know].

The Shelby, N.C., native is rated as the nation’s No. 109 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports composite.

Who’s left?

With the two commitments earlier this week, the Gamecocks’ Class of 2018 currently sits at 13 pledges, with 12 spots remaining in a presumed full class of 25.
