South Carolina linebacker Skai Moore did not play the first half of Saturday’s game against The Citadel, and it has nothing to do with football.
UPDATE: After the game, South Carolina interim coach Shawn Elliott confirmed Moore did not play because of preparation, not as a punishment.
Skai Moore didn't play early on because he missed practice time. Was a preparation issue. He wasn't being punished, Elliott said.

UPDATE: Moore entered the game midway through the third quarter. Moore registered a tackle and helped the South Carolina defense force a three-and-out.
Moore did not practice most of the week because of a death in his family, the South Carolina athletic department announced Saturday via its Twitter account. He is the not in trouble or being punished.
Moore leads the Gamecocks with 95 tackles and four interceptions this season. He has also notched 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
