One of South Carolina’s best defenders will miss the 2016 season.
Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp announced that senior linebacker Skai Moore will be out next season after having surgery on Friday to repair a disc in his neck, according to The State’s Josh Kendall. The first-year head coach said that Moore will have neck fusion surgery, be out six months and redshirt, according to the Orlando Sentinel’s Edgar Thompson.
Moore collected 111 tackles last season, and had led the Gamecocks in that category for each the past three seasons. He was named second-team All-SEC in 2015.
The linebacker toyed with the idea of entering this year’s NFL draft, but decided to return for his senior season.
Moore was being held out of spring practice as a precaution with a neck strain.
