South Carolina withstood another blow on Monday.
Three-star athlete JJ Givens of Mechanicsville, Va., announced his de-commitment from the program through Twitter, just hours after four-star defensive end Jordan Smith did the very same.
The 6-foot-2, 174-pound senior from Atlee High School leaves South Carolina with just 13 verbal commitments in this year’s recruiting cycle.
Since Steve Spurrier’s surprise resignation in October, the Gamecocks have lost five key commitments, including Givens’. Marlon Character (Atlanta, Ga.), P.J. Blue (Montgomery, Ala.) and Bryan Edwards (Conway, S.C.) round out the remaining recruits who have de-committed in recent weeks.
