COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina will have two seniors taking part in the second annual Tropical Bowl, a college football all-star game.
Defensive lineman Marquavius Lewis and defensive back Jordan Diggs will play in the game, which takes place in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Jan. 15. They both will be on the National Team, coached by Mike Stock.
Lewis transferred to South Carolina from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and played his final two seasons for the Gamecocks. He started every game in those two years and was named a captain as a senior, one of four captains named postseason by coach Will Muschamp. He had 48 tackles in 2016, including 5.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks.
Diggs bounced around at a few positions during his career, finishing as a nickel back as a senior. He played in all 13 games, making one start. The Fort Myers, Fla., native had 25 tackles in 2016. Diggs played in 53 games during his South Carolina career and made 14 starts overall, 10 of which came in the 2015 season at safety.
The Tropical Bowl kicks off at 9 a.m. ET on Jan. 15 at the Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium. It will be streamed live online at audiblesports.net.
