Early spring is usually the time of year South Carolina fans are already looking ahead to football season. That’s not the case in 2017.
With the Gamecocks earning a Final Four appearance in the Men’s NCAA Tournament on Sunday, Columbia, SC is coming down with basketball fever. And to help accommodate the Final Four game Saturday, the football team is starting its spring game two hours earlier than initially planned.

Originally set to start at 2 p.m. ET, SEC Network will now air the spring game at 12.
Another schedule change for the university includes South Carolina postponing its plans to break ground on an indoor football facility on Saturday.
It has to feel great for every member of the basketball team that the school is supporting them so much, they are rescheduling major football events. It’s likely usually the other way around in the football town.
South Carolina edged Florida, 77-70, in the Elite 8 at Madison Square Garden on Sunday to advance to the program’s first-ever Final Four. The Gamecocks will face the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the National Semifinals on Saturday at 6:09 p.m. ET.
Maybe now that the team has proven capable of reaching the Final Four, perhaps in the future, the South Carolina football team won’t plan as many things the same weekend as the final one of the tournament.
