South Carolina has benefited from several recruiting wins since Will Muschamp took over in Columbia, S.C., but Saturday’s development might arguably be the new coach’s biggest triumph.
Cavin Ridley, a four-star receiver from Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School, committed to the Gamecocks over Alabama after the Under Armour All-America game in Orlando, according to Rivals’ Andrew Bone.
Ridley, the younger brother of Crimson Tide star Calvin Ridley, was widely considered a strong Alabama lean after narrowing down his list of finalists to those two SEC schools. His decision gives the Gamecocks 19 verbal pledges for the Class of 2016, which already includes a four-star receiver signee in Bryan Edwards.
Ridley is rated the No. 25 recruit in the state of Florida.
