It was a lighter crowd for Day 2 of the Will Muschamp Football Camp, but there were still a few South Carolina recruiting targets for the Gamecocks coaches to evaluate.
Cam Smith, a 2019 cornerback from Westwood High School in Blythewood, S.C., was among those at the top of the list. From the moment he entered the indoor facility, the 6-foot-1, 178-pound prospect immediately had the attention of defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson, who was at his side throughout the combine testing.
Smith’s numbers were good enough for him to earn an offer from the Gamecocks: 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash and a vertical jump of more than 36 inches. East Carolina, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Maryland, North Carolina, Purdue, Tennessee, UCF, Wake Forest and West Virginia also have offered.
Another in-state prospect — 2020 wide receiver Jalen Coit — was joined by a few teammates from Cheraw High School. He put down a 40 time of 4.54. His classmate, defensive tackle Xavier McIver, was offered by South Carolina last summer.
The Unsigned Preps group from Tampa, Fla., included several 2019 and 2020 prospects with Division I offers, including 2019 wide receiver Ezeriah Anderson, 2019 wide receiver Terrel Ferrell, 2019 safety La’Darius Henry and 2020 wide receiver Joe Hodge.
South Carolina coach Will Muschamp was spotted chatting with 2020 athlete Ja’Quavion Fraziars, who was working out with the wide receivers. Fraziars, who’s listed as a 6-foot-4, 185-pound 4-star prospect on 247Sports, is ranked as the No. 22 athlete in the country. Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee have offered.
