More on the 5-star
After the first Shrine Bowl workout of the week, 5-star defensive end K.J. Henry detailed the pitch he gets from Muschamp, who’s taken on a significant role in his recruitment to South Carolina.
The Gamecocks head coach wants Henry to be a “trailblazer” and sign with him on Dec. 20.
“Coach Muschamp asked me, he said, ‘When was the last time you sat the bench?’ Not necessarily sitting the bench came to mind, but not being the guy would be a little different,” Henry said, “Knowing that I’ll have a good opportunity to be that guy at South Carolina.”
Henry, who’s graduating from West Forsyth High School (Clemmons, N.C.) later this month, is being recruited to play the ‘Buck’ position at South Carolina, which is a hybrid outside linebacker/defensive end role.
It’s the same type of job he had this past season in high school.
“Just being creative, that’s what I like about my position,” Henry said, “With my size and my speed, I can be creative.”
Another FSU target
According to an interview with Phil Kornblut, 3-star linebacker Rosendo Louis is considering an official visit to South Carolina this weekend, before he signs on Dec. 20.
“They told me I can come in, put in the work and the time, and play as a true freshman,” Louis said.
The Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School prospect remains committed to Florida State, the school he committed to while Jimbo Fisher was still head coach.
Official visit in the books
Four-star cornerback Jaycee Horn (Alpharetta, Ga.) took an official visit to South Carolina this past weekend. The former Tennessee commitment is considering a stop by at Alabama or Ohio State this upcoming weekend.
That’s according to an interview with Kornblut.
The Gamecocks certainly made a favorable impression this past weekend.
“They were talking about how they need me on the outside so they’ll be able to play more of the scheme they want to play,” Horn said. “They were already high in consideration and the visit didn’t do anything but help that at the end of the day.”
He added, “They are a real cool group of guys. It felt good being around them and I can see myself being around them a lot.”
