Whenever Will Muschamp lands a commitment, the South Carolina coach drops a #SpursUp on Twitter. Come to SEC Country for the latest news, notes and observations in South Carolina recruiting.
Three-star offensive tackle Jordan Rhodes will be busy taking official visits over the next few weeks.
The 6-foot-6, 300-pound prospect from Creekside High School in Fairburn, Ga., will kick off things this weekend with a return to Columbia. South Carolina hosted him in the fall for the upset win against Tennessee.
“South Carolina … and coach Will Muschamp, preparing his guys, offense and defense, to come out on Saturday night to just win and celebrate,” said Rhodes during an on-site interview with SEC Country in December.
“Going in the locker room and everyone is just happy, I really miss that.”
Earlier this week, Rhodes told SEC Country that he will take official visits to Mississippi State (Jan. 20), Missouri (Jan. 27), Cincinnati (Jan. 30) and Georgia State (before signing day).
“I plan on making my decision after signing day,” he said, “because I want to make sure that I go over some key points with my parents and just let that decide the school I want to go to.”
South Carolina’s coaches have maintained contact with 3-star safety Naytron Culpepper, who took an official visit to Columbia in the fall. Michigan State will host him for one this weekend. Before signing day, he’ll take another to Kentucky or Oregon.
Gilbert (S.C.) High School running back Catriez Cook is still entertaining the chance to join South Carolina as a preferred walk-on. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect will take an official visit to Wingate this weekend.
