Four-star linebacker Dax Hollifield, one of the top South Carolina recruiting targets for the 2018 cycle, will take his first official visit this weekend.
Hollifield will arrive to Florida State on Saturday morning, where he’ll remain until Monday, before returning home to Shelby, N.C.
On Friday night, six days after Hollifield visited for the home-opener against Kentucky, South Carolina linebackers coach Coleman Hutzler watched Hollifield play at South Pointe High School in Rock Hill, S.C.
Though the date hasn’t been nailed down, Hollifield would prefer to take his official visit to South Carolina for the weekend of the Arkansas game (Oct. 7).
Virginia Tech will host him next weekend as an unofficial guest for the showdown with Clemson. He’ll return for an official visit the weekend of the North Carolina game (Oct. 21).
The Tar Heels will host him for an official visit in Chapel Hill when Virginia is in town (Oct. 21).

Hollifield will return to Stanford for The Big Game on Nov. 18, though it will be an unofficial visit. Stanford’s coaches wanted him to take his official visit next weekend for the Arizona State game, but he opted instead to make plans for an unofficial trip to Virginia Tech.
According to the 247Sports composite, Hollifield is the No. 5 inside linebacker in the Class of 2018. He’s also ranked fifth among prospects from the state of North Carolina.
Fellow South Carolina targets K.J. Henry and Rick Sandidge are ranked second and sixth, respectively.
