Whenever Will Muschamp lands a commitment, the South Carolina coach drops a #SpursUp on Twitter. Come to SEC Country for the latest news, notes and observations in South Carolina recruiting.
Brown, who’s from Clarke Central High School in Athens, Ga., told SEC Country on Tuesday night that he will head to Arkansas State next weekend.
The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect committed to South Carolina in the summer and one other Power 5 offer — Wake Forest.
In late November, Brown told SEC Country that he was still in contact with Arkansas State cornerbacks coach Trooper Taylor.
Four-star offensive tackle Maxwell Iyama, the No. 20-ranked offensive tackle in the Class of 2018, picked up an offer from South Carolina running backs coach Bobby Bentley a day after the Gamecocks’ first win in 2016.
Tennessee and Louisville have also offered Iyama, who’s from Siegel High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The Vols hosted Iyama (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) several times in the fall. The Gamecocks are looking to have him on campus at some point this spring.
“I’m trying my hardest to make it to a junior day,” Iyama said. “I will be discussing it with coach Bentley and coach Muschamp.”
Warren McClendon, a 4-star (247Sports) offensive tackle from Brunswick (Ga.) High School, is planning to make several trips to SEC schools within the next couple of months.
“I plan on trying to get to Auburn on the 28th and I’m visiting Georgia this weekend,” he said. “I really want to visit Alabama, Clemson, Tennessee and Florida.”
McClendon (6-4, 270) added, “That’s where I want to go before spring.”
